The Akela also knows how to Tournament fish. Different options are available to experience competition bill fishing (blue/white marlin, sailfish).
The AKELA Tournament Team also took 2nd place in the Marlin Division with a tagged and released Blue Marlin.
1st at the Bob Byrd Memorial Tournament: The Akela took 1st Place Tuna Division and 5th Place Overall by tagging and releasing a White Marlin. The tournament took place August 12-14, 2004.
1st at the Big Blue: The Akela took 1st Place Blue Marlin Division in the Summer-long Texas Big Blue tournament with the 579 lb. Blue Marlin caught on the Frank Marx/Team Texas Racing School Charter. The Marlin was caught in July 2004.
2nd at the 2003 August Billfish Classic: The Akela and her crew took 2nd Place Tag and Release in the 2003 August Billfish Classic with a Blue Marlin.The tournament took place August 21-23, 2003.
3rd Place at the 5th Annual Bob Byrd Memorial Tournament: The Akela and her crew took 3rd Place Overall when they tagged a Blue Marlin and a White Marlin to put them in the money. The tournament took place August 7-9, 2003.
1st and 2nd at the 2003 Watermelon Open: The Akela and her crew took 1st Place-Tuna Div. in the 2003 Watermelon Open with an 83 lb Yellowfin Tuna. They also took 2nd Place-Blue Marlin Div. with a 305.5 lb. Blue. The tournament took place June 19-21, 2003.
2nd at the 2002 August Billfish Classic: The Akela and her crew took 2nd Place in the 2002 August Billfish Classic with a 489.5 lb Blue Marlin.The tournament took place August 23-24, 2002.
1st Place Texas Big Blue Tournament: The Akela took 1st Place in The Texas Big Blue Tournament sponsored by Top's and Tower's in 2002!
1st Place Poco Bueno: The Akela and her crew took 1st Place in the Offshore Marlin Division of the 2001 Poco Bueno Tournament in Port O'Conner, TX. They won the tournament by catching a 653.5 lb. Blue Marlin. The Poco Bueno is Texas' most prestigious sport fishing tournament of the year.
1st Place Summer All: The Akela's 1st Place win at Poco Bueno took 1st Place Summer All with their 653.5 lb Blue Marlin!

3rd Place Bob Byrd:
The Akela placed third in the Bob Byrd Bill Fishing Tournament on August 10th & 11th, 2001. 3rd Place was awarded for a Grand Slam (that's catching a Blue Marlin, Sailfish and a White Marlin all on the same trip). The Akela also had the largest Yellowfin Tuna at 64 lbs.
